Elland Carnival

The Elland Carnival is now in its 95th year! Over the last 5 years the community of Elland has come together to make the event a tremendous success. Last year we had over 5000 people come to the carnival. It was a great sunny day. We also saw the return of Tug of War! The highlight of the day. Along with the procession through the centre of Elland. In 2023 we are also bringing back the Welly Throwing Competition!

How you can take part?

To make Elland Carnival even bigger and better, we are asking all schools, community clubs and local activity groups to take part in 2023. The more the merrier. Together we can make the day a huge success. But only if we all take part. We are looking for the following:

• Schools, local groups and charities to take part in the procession.
• Businesses and charities to have a stall.
• Special / vintage vehicles to take part in the parade or stay static in the carnival for the day.
• Bands that would like to play during the carnival. Any type of music.
• Groups that would like to perform during the carnival. Dance groups, magicians, bands etc.
• Applications for people who would like to enter the Carnival Queen competition.
• Applications for Carnival Champion (aged 11-16) and Carnival Little Star (aged 5-10).
• Applications to enter the Dog Show competition.
• Applications to enter the Tug of War competition.
• Sponsors who would like to contribute to the Carnival and make the day even more spectacular.
• Volunteers who can help out for an hour or two.
